There's no park-wide vehicle reservation for 2026, though the Logan Pass shuttle now requires a ticket and parking is limited at peak lots — worth double-checking current rules on nps.gov before you go.

West Glacier, Whitefish, and St. Mary are the main gateway towns, covering both the west and east sides of the park.

The entrance fee is $35/vehicle (7-day) — a $100/person nonresident surcharge applies (2026) — or purchase a National Parks Yearly Pass.

Glacier is defined by the legendary Going-to-the-Sun Road, a 50-mile engineering feat that crosses the Continental Divide through jagged, glacier-carved peaks and past impossibly turquoise lakes. Few drives anywhere in the country pack in this much dramatic scenery.

The park's namesake glaciers are genuinely receding, which gives a visit here a bit of urgency that most parks don't carry — this is a landscape actively changing within a human lifetime.

Things to Do:

Driving Going-to-the-Sun Road, with a stop at Logan Pass, is the essential Glacier experience — budget a full day if you want to stop often. The Highline Trail, starting right at Logan Pass, is one of the most spectacular hikes in the entire national park system, tracing a narrow ledge along the Garden Wall.

For a quieter pace, a boat tour on Lake McDonald or Two Medicine Lake offers the same dramatic mountain backdrop with a fraction of the road traffic.
