We love seeing America’s National Parks through the eyes of fellow travelers! Each month, we’re inviting our National Park Journal community to share their favorite National Park photographs.
Whether it’s a spectacular landscape, an unforgettable wildlife encounter, or a quiet moment on the trail, we want to see it.
The challenge is free and open to all National Park Journal subscribers, both free and paid!
How to Enter
- Subscribe to National Park Journal (free subscriptions count!).
- Visit our monthly Photo Challenge thread in Substack Chat.
- Upload one original photograph and include the National Park name and a short caption.
November submissions are open November 1–14.

How Voting Works
Each month, we’ll select 5 finalist photographs to feature in National Park Journal.
Subscribers will vote for their favorite in a single poll, and the photograph with the most votes wins!
November voting: November 18–24
Winner announced: November 25

The winner also receives a special feature in National Park Journal, with their photograph, photographer credit, and the story behind their image.
We’ll also celebrate the winner on our website and social media.
Photo Challenge Rules
- Open to free and paid National Park Journal subscribers; no purchase or paid subscription required.
- One entry per person per month.
- Photographs must be original, taken by the entrant within a U.S. National Park.
- Smartphone photography and basic editing are welcome. AI-generated photographs are not eligible.
- Photographers retain ownership of their images and grant National Park Journal and National Parks Club permission to share submitted photographs with credit ONLY in connection with the challenge (in our newsletter, on the Winners Page on this website, and social channels)
- National Park Journal selects five finalists; subscribers choose the winner through voting.
- The prize is one year of NPC Membership ($60 regular retail value), with no cash alternative.
