St. Mary Campground
On the park’s drier, more open east side, St. Mary Campground sits near the eastern end of Going-to-the-Sun Road with sweeping views over St. Mary Lake — a genuinely different landscape than the forested west side. Sites offer flush toilets and potable water, no hookups, and the campground’s location makes it a strong base for exploring the east side’s trails and overlooks, including easy access to Sun Point and Sunrift Gorge. Being on the east side also means noticeably windier conditions than the more sheltered west-side campgrounds — worth factoring in if you’re tent camping. This is a good pick for anyone wanting to split a Glacier visit between both sides of Going-to-the-Sun Road without doubling back through West Glacier each time.
