Potwisha Campground
Lodging Type: In-Park Campground
Price Tier: $
At a much lower elevation than Lodgepole, Potwisha stays open essentially year-round and offers noticeably warmer camping in the shoulder seasons and winter, when the park’s higher-elevation campgrounds are snowed in or closed. Sites offer flush toilets and potable water, no hookups, and the lower elevation means a genuinely different landscape — foothill chaparral rather than towering sequoia groves, though it’s still a reasonable drive up to Giant Forest and General Sherman. This is the practical choice for anyone visiting outside peak summer season, when most of Sequoia’s other campgrounds simply aren’t operating yet.
