Morefield Campground
The only developed campground in Mesa Verde National Park, Morefield sits about four miles inside the park entrance, set in a canyon with mule deer and wild turkeys commonly seen wandering through the sites. It’s a large campground with a real range of amenities — flush toilets, coin-op showers, a general store, gas station, and some full-hookup RV sites through the park’s concessioner, genuinely more developed than most park campgrounds. Being roughly 15 miles from the cliff dwellings themselves, you’ll still drive to the main sights, but the campground’s amenities and its central location within the park make it the practical, and only, choice for anyone camping in Mesa Verde. It’s open seasonally, roughly May through mid-October, so check current dates before planning your trip.
