Indian Cove Campground
Tucked against a dramatic wall of rock formations on the park’s northern edge, Indian Cove is genuinely one of the most scenic campgrounds in Joshua Tree, and a favorite among the park’s serious rock climbing community given its direct access to some of the best bouldering and climbing routes in the area. Sites are primitive with vault toilets, no potable water on-site and no hookups, and the campground’s layout means real separation between sites tucked among the boulders. Unlike much of the park, Indian Cove is accessed from a separate road outside the main park boundary, so double-check your route before heading out — it doesn’t connect directly to the main park loop road. Reservations fill quickly in peak season, same as the rest of the park’s popular campgrounds.
