The St. Mary Visitor Center sits beside the St. Mary Entrance on the park’s east side and is a good first stop if you arrive via US-89 from the east. Inside are interactive exhibits, including displays on the American Indian tribes and their ties to the land, tactile exhibits, sound recordings, and a bookstore run by the park’s conservancy. The park film, Land of Many Journeys, runs about 15 minutes and is shown on the hour and half hour, with closed captioning. The building is a Mission 66 design and also a stop on the Going-to-the-Sun Road shuttle. It is open from late May to early October, so check conditions before you plan a trip in spring or fall.
