The Robert J. Lagomarsino Visitor Center is the mainland gateway to Channel Islands National Park, tucked at the end of Spinnaker Drive in Ventura Harbor where the boats to the islands depart. Exhibits show what makes each island different, there is a bookstore, a living tide pool display, and a 25-minute park film called A Treasure in the Sea shown in the auditorium. A small observation tower gives views over the harbor and out toward the islands on a clear day. It is a good stop before you board a boat, because rangers can answer questions about island conditions, camping, and what to bring. Free ranger programs are offered on weekends and holidays.
