Overview:
On the park’s quiet east side, the Rio Grande Village Visitor Center sits about a quarter mile north of the developed area with its campground, RV park, and store. It is a small, simple stop compared with Panther Junction, but it is the right place to ask about the hot springs, birdwatching along the river, and the Boquillas Canyon overlooks. The nearby Boquillas border crossing has its own schedule and rules, so check current crossing status with a ranger before you plan a visit to the Mexican village. Come here if you are staying on the east side and want local advice without the drive back to the park’s headquarters.
