Overview:
Persimmon Gap is the park’s north entrance and the first visitor center many people see if they approach from Marathon. It has exhibits, a small bookstore, a mini-theater, and restrooms, and it is a convenient place to orient yourself before the long, scenic drive south to Panther Junction. Rangers here can help with river permits and with planning around current road conditions. It is a good stop if you want to ask questions early in your trip and pick up a park map before you reach the first fork in the road.
