Overview:
The Kuwohi Visitor Center sits at the trailhead for Kuwohi, the highest point in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, formerly called Clingmans Dome, seven miles up Kuwohi Road off US-441. Inside are park information, a Great Smoky Mountains Association bookstore and shop, and restrooms in the parking area. This is a small center, and unlike the others it does not offer ranger programs. The paved half-mile trail to the observation tower begins here, so many visitors stop to check weather and visibility before they climb. Kuwohi Road is closed in winter, so the center is open only part of the year.
