Overview:
The Great Basin Visitor Center sits just north of the town of Baker, on the west side of Nevada Highway 487, and is many visitors’ first taste of the park, since it lies outside the park boundary. Inside are a staffed information desk, an exhibit hall about the Great Basin’s history, ecology, and life zones, the park film, a park store, and a water spigot you can use to fill bottles. It is a useful stop for maps and current conditions before you drive up to Lehman Caves or the Wheeler Peak Scenic Drive. Great Basin has no entrance fee.
