Glacier Bay’s visitor center is on the second floor of the Glacier Bay Lodge in Bartlett Cove, about 10 miles from the town of Gustavus. It is the only developed visitor area in the park, and most visitors arrive by plane or ferry to Gustavus and then drive to Bartlett Cove. Exhibits cover the park’s natural and cultural history, and there is an information desk, a fireplace, a reading area, an Alaska Geographic bookstore, and a lodge gift shop. Rangers lead walks and give programs through the summer, including a short evening talk in the lodge theater upstairs. The exhibits are open during the lodge’s front-desk hours, while the staffed information desk has shorter hours.
