The Furnace Creek Visitor Center is the main visitor center and park headquarters for Death Valley National Park, located off Highway 190 in the Furnace Creek resort area. Inside are museum exhibits on the park’s geology, wildlife, and mining history, a park film of about 20 minutes, a bookstore, and a ranger desk where you can ask about conditions, trails, and which roads are open. It is also where you can buy a park pass in person. Death Valley is huge and services are far apart, so start here to get current road and heat information, then fill up on water and plan the rest of your day. The center is the best place to cool off and orient yourself before driving to Badwater Basin, Zabriskie Point, and the dunes.
