The Colter Bay Visitor Center is the main visitor center in the northern part of Grand Teton, on the eastern shore of Jackson Lake in Colter Bay Village about 25 miles north of Moose. It is one of the park’s Mission 66 buildings from the 1950s. Rangers can answer questions and issue permits for boating and backcountry camping, and the building houses an Indian Arts Museum with artifacts from the David T. Vernon collection. It is also home to the park’s Indigenous Arts and Cultural Demonstration Program, which brings Native American artists for weeklong residencies in summer. A back deck has views over the lake. The center is seasonal, usually open from early May to early October.
