The Bryce Canyon Visitor Center sits about a mile inside the park off Utah Route 63 and is the first stop on the free park shuttle. Inside you will find exhibits on the park’s geology and wildlife, a ranger help desk, a bookstore, and the 20-minute award-winning film Shadows of Time, which plays every half hour and is a good introduction to how the hoodoos formed. Kids will like the interactive displays, including a prairie dog maze. Rangers can tell you current road and weather conditions, ranger program schedules, and which trails make sense for your time. Parking here fills up in summer, so consider riding the shuttle from Bryce Canyon City when it is running.
