Boston Mill is the main visitor center for Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the best place to start, since the park stretches along the river between Cleveland and Akron with many separate access points. The building is a rehabilitated 1905 general store, and its exhibits tell the story of the old canal-era village and of the river’s recovery. In the center’s south room, a 3D tactile model of the valley and two large murals show how the park sits between the two cities. Rangers can help you plan, and you can pick up maps, passport stamps, and the park newspaper, The Valley Guide, and browse the park store. An observation deck looks over the Cuyahoga River, and the center sits right beside Boston Mill Station, where you can board the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad. The restrooms stay open even when the building is closed.
