Ohanapecosh Campground
Tucked in old-growth forest on the park’s southeast side, Ohanapecosh is a genuinely quiet, shaded campground along the Ohanapecosh River, a real contrast to the alpine meadows most visitors picture at Mount Rainier. Sites offer flush toilets and potable water, no hookups, and the campground puts you right at the trailhead for the Grove of the Patriarchs (when open) and Silver Falls, both easy, rewarding walks through some of the most impressive old-growth forest in the Pacific Northwest. This side of the park sees noticeably fewer visitors than Paradise or Sunrise, making it a good pick for anyone wanting a calmer camping experience while still being within the park boundaries.
