White River Campground
On the park’s drier eastern side, White River Campground sits near the Sunrise area, which sees notably fewer crowds than Paradise despite equally dramatic mountain views. Sites are primitive, with vault toilets and potable water, no hookups, and the campground puts you close to the trailhead for Sunrise’s high-elevation hikes and wildflower meadows, a genuine alternative to the more famous (and more crowded) Paradise side of the mountain. Given the shorter season here — the road to Sunrise typically only opens July through September, snowpack dependent — this is a narrower camping window than some of the park’s other options.
