Furnace Creek Campground
The largest and most central campground in Death Valley, Furnace Creek sits right by the visitor center and the small cluster of services at Furnace Creek, including a general store, restaurants, and gas — genuinely useful given how remote this park is overall. Sites offer generator-friendly spots, some electrical/water hookups through the park’s concessioner, and flush toilets, making this the most comfortable option in the park by a wide margin. Being at relatively low elevation, this campground is only really pleasant from roughly November through March — Death Valley’s summer heat makes camping here dangerous the rest of the year, and reservations (required in the cooler season, first-come outside it) fill quickly for winter holiday weekends when the park sees its heaviest crowds. Its central location makes it an easy base for reaching Badwater Basin, Zabriskie Point, and Artists Drive without long drives each day.
