Mazama Campground
The larger and more developed of Crater Lake’s two campgrounds, Mazama sits about seven miles from the rim near Rim Village, with far more amenities than most park campgrounds offer — coin showers, a laundry facility, a camp store, and both tent and RV sites, some with electrical hookups available through the park’s concessioner. This is the practical base for most Crater Lake visitors, close enough to the Rim Drive to be convenient while still surrounded by genuine old-growth forest. Given the park’s short season — typically open only from early June through late September, snowpack dependent — reservations book up fast for summer weekends, so plan well ahead if your visit falls in peak months. The relative comfort here (real showers being a rare park-campground luxury) makes it a good choice for families or anyone not looking to rough it entirely.
